20 Celebrity Dads On Joys Of Fatherhood, Cherished Family Moments

20 Celebrity Dads On Joys Of Fatherhood, Cherished Family Moments

In honor of Father's Day this Sunday, we're taking a look at 20 of Hollywood's leading men from father-of-five Chris O'Donnell, to father-of-four Rick Schroder, to dad-of-two Jeff Gordon, to soon-to-be father-of-five Dean McDermott.

Take a look at 20 celebrity dads and hear their joys of fatherhood and cherished family memories.

Chris O'Donnell first captivated audiences in the '90s high school drama School Ties, and when he starred in Scent of a Woman alongside Hollywood legend Al Pacino, he solidified his stance in Hollywood and a place in our hearts.

Chris left the spotlight in the late '90s for love. He wed his college sweetheart, Caroline Fentress, and the happy couple started a family. Chris and Caroline are now parents to three sons and two daughters: Lily, 12, Chip, 11, Charles, 8, Finley, 6, and Maeve, 4. The father-of-five opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about the importance of carving out time with each of his five kids.

I just had a great day with my oldest daughter. I think it's important every once in a while to give them each some isolated time because we're always doing stuff in groups. But I think it's important, especially with the daddy-daughter relationship that they get some one-on-one time. The boys get a little bit spoiled just because they have the same passion for watching sports like I do, so we kind of find time together no matter what. But with my daughters I feel like I really need to make an effort to have some quality time. I got off work early yesterday and we had a really great time together."

Ricky Schroder stole our hearts in the '80s TV sitcom Silver Spoons as the rich kid we all loved. Now 42, Rick has outgrown the child star persona - and the "y" - and appeared in shows such as NYPD Blue, Lonesome Dove and 24.

Rick is also a dedicated family man, having been married to his sweetheart Andrea for 20 years. Together, they have 4 gorgeous kids: Holden, 20, Luke, 19, Cambrie, 15, and Faith Anne, 10. The father-of-four opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about instilling strong values with their kids -- even if the topics of sex and drugs can be "tough" topics to discuss.

Andrea and I bring totally different values to the table with our kids. Her No. 1 value is kindness, while I believe in working hard and giving 100%. The 'tough' stuff is talked about so much, it?s not tough anymore. Kids in America have such opportunity and it would be foolish if I didn?t protect my kids by being realistic and upfront about temptation, vices, and potential danger."

Weird Al Yankovic has made a career out of his two passions: music and comedy. For years he's been creating parodies of popular songs such as Michael Jackson's Beat It (which he turned into the catchy tune Eat It) and Ridin' Dirty by Chamillionaire and Krayzie Bone (which became the hilarious song White & Nerdy).

The Grammy Award-winning singer is also a proud dad to 9-year-old daughter Nina with wife Suzanne Krajewski. Weird Al opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about a touching memory with his daughter.

When my daughter was a toddler, just learning to talk, she was crazy about baby ducks. She loved them to death. Anything with a picture of a baby duck on it made her happy, and when she actually got to see real baby ducks she was positively delirious. During that time period, when she would hug me goodnight, she would often smile and say 'baby ducks,' which, if you understood her very limited vocabulary, meant that she was content and very happy. And then I would say 'baby ducks' back to her."

NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon and wife Ingrid Vandebosch are proud parents to daughter Ella, 5, and son Leo, 1. The celebrated race car driver - who has been outspoken on raising awareness about the Tdap booster vaccine since becoming a dad - shared the joys of fatherhood with Celebrity Baby Scoop.

I adore my children and hope they find something in life they are passionate about that I can help encourage just as my parents did for me with racing at such an early age."

Actor-director Mario Van Peebles opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about his five children - Maya, 19, Makaylo, 17, Mandela, 17, Marley, 15, and Morgana, 14 - and his new film, We The Party, that was "developed and workshopped with them and around them."

Fatherhood is the best role I have ever played. I have always thought that the kids come through you and not from you. Part of what has been exciting is that the one side that?s just all parenting doesn?t really work, so you have to adjust and think about letting each kid define who they are, and they are also finding out as well. You help them be the best person that they can be. It teaches you grace."

Heroes and Alias star Greg Grunberg is not only a talented actor, he's also the brains behind Yowza!!, the leading location-based mobile coupon app.

Greg opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about his three sons Jake, 15, Ben, 12, and Sam, 8, and the joys of fatherhood.

I love the discovery [of fatherhood]; you get to discover things and see things through their eyes in a fresh way. It has been so long since I actually discovered something. I am in my forties?I have seen it all and have done it all. To see how they get excited about things?it makes thing fresh again. Like I said, they are everything; everything else pales in comparison. Nothing else matters other than my family, my wife, and my kids. I love it; I just love everything about being a dad."

Brendan Fehr and wife Jennifer Rowley are parents to daughters James, 4, and Ellison, 1. The CSI star opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about the joys of fatherhood.

I don't think there's just one thing [I love about fatherhood]. It's just being a dad. That's the best thing. The relationship you form. I've been able to spend a lot of time with [my daughters]. With my work schedule, I have that flexibility. In between projects, you could have weeks or months for sure. It's developing that relationship so that, later in life, she trusts me and she knows she can talk to me about stuff that maybe nowadays many daughters don't talk to their dads about. If I could be that guy in her life that shows her that there are good guys out there and set a good example for future men that may enter her life, that's what I want."

J.R. Martinez talked to Celebrity Baby Scoop just before welcoming his first child, daughter Lauryn, on May 2.

J.R. said he was very excited to meet his daughter and enjoy the newborn stage. But most of all, the expectant dad was most excited when his little girl will begin to talk and they can have conversations and he will be able to see the world again through her eyes.

Billy Baldwin stole our hearts in '90s hit movies such as Flatliners, Backdraft and Sliver. The 49-year-old hunk with the famous last name opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about his 20+ relationship with wife, songstress Chynna Phillips, and their three kids Jamison, 12, Vance, 10, and Brooke, 8.

I would say that I was actively engaged [as a father]. I strive for a balance. I try and keep it light but my dad was a Marine and was definitely a disciplinarian, so I have him and his style of parenting in me too. I try and have boundaries and consequences for behavior, but the hard part is being consistent. My sister Jane says, 'You can never have too much love or too much discipline.' "

Robert Novogratz and his wife Cortney are parents to seven children: Wolfgang, 14, Tallulah and Bellamy, 13, Breaker, 11, Five and Holleder, 6 and Major, 3.

With two sets of twins as well as three more children, a new home furnishings brand, and a successful reality TV series, Robert opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about keeping the kids top priority.

We make the kids our priority no matter what we are doing, and find time for some one-on-one with each of them. We also take different kids with us when we travel for projects. Just recently, we took our two six year-old twins to Mammoth, California to do a makeover for skateboarding superstar, Tony Hawk. They were in heaven!"

All My Children alum Justin Bruening opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about his 1-year-old daughter Lexington and the joys of fatherhood.

It?s fun because you get to experience everything with your child with a clean slate. It?s a first time for them - everything is a first time. You can watch them grow and watch them absorb anything you show them - that is the biggest treat to me. She is learning like five new words a day, it?s crazy! I don?t know how she does it."

  • Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr.:

America's Got Talent winner Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about his five "great" kids: Michael, 17, Marcus, 15, Morgan, 13, Terrick ,18, and stepdaughter Kyra, 15.

They're doing great. My son is about to graduate and he plans on going to college. He plays and sings also. He might play in some of my shows. They can't believe I won the show! I'm 37 and they think I'm old. They say, 'I can't believe you're still following your dreams, dad.' Why wouldn't I?! Teenager think 30-year-olds are old. I want to set the example for all kids. Or just anybody who has a dream to just go out and do it. I just got the West Virginia of the year award! There's just a whole lot of stuff going on. It's been a fantastic ride."

Grammy nominated singer Eric Ben?t told Celebrity Baby Scoop "life is just as it should be." While he's no stranger to unflattering headlines after his reported infidelities and failed marriage to Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry, Eric says "life is wonderful" and he's now found "true love" with his new wife, Manuela Testolini.

The father-of-two opened up about recently welcoming daughter Lucia twenty years after having his first daughter India.

It feels great! When India was a baby, I was grateful and joyful but at the same time I was fearful because I was a single parent. In a lot of ways I was a kid myself. I've done a lot of growing and now I have all the joy and all the excitement with a whole lot less fear. It's great."

Country star Rodney Atkins opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about his kids - son Elijah and stepdaughters Lindsey and Morgan - and how fatherhood has influenced his career.

Parenting has definitely affected my career. It changes the way you see the world. I find inspiration from being a father in everything I do. From the songs I record, to decisions made as far as when to tour and what things to do. It is really about trying to find balance in everything. Sometimes I do a better job than others."

Reality TV stars Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott welcomed their third child, daughter Hattie, seven months ago. And already the happy couple are welcoming baby No. 4 later this year! The stars of Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood are also parents to son Liam, 5, and daughter Stella, 3, and proud papa Dean gushed to Celebrity Baby Scoop about their older kids.

Liam's all about the poop right now [laughs]! We have no idea where he comes up with it, but it's too good not to share. And Stella's going to be a supermodel. Some of the poses that she strikes are amazing!"

Dean is also dad to 13-year-old son Jack from a previous marriage.

Reality TV dads Bill Horn and Scout Masterson (a.k.a. The Guncles) are proud dads to 2-year-old daughter Simone. The Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood stars shared their Father's Day brunch plans exclusively with Celebrity Baby Scoop.

Father's Day is a day we look forward to - not because of a gift, but because we weren't sure if we'd ever have the privilege of someone calling us "Dad." Our tradition was set in motion last year when Simone (with her Nana's help...) treated us to a fantastic brunch at The Ivy and we're looking forward to whatever brunch Simone picks for us this year! We're proud to be Simone's Dads."

Audiences first fell in love with Esai Morales in the popular '80s biopic La Bamba. The 49-year-old actor is now known for his roles on NYPD Blue and Caprica. The actor opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about his 1-year-old daughter Mariana and the lessons he's learning as a new dad.

She's teaching me that you can't force any situation. Children are children and they can't be reasoned with the way adults cajole each other. We all agree upon certain rules. But children go beyond that and they are just going to exist in a rhythm of their own. We as parents should learn their rhythm as opposed to conforming them to our expectations. They need to know that there's a limit to patience and generosity, but at the same time we should not be blind to learning a different way. You would think my kid is starving because my wife is always offering her something, but she just wants to know that it's there and she'll have it when she wants it."

Singer-songwriter Josh Kelley and wife, actress Katherine Heigl, are proud parents to two daughters: Naleigh, 3, and newborn daughter Adalaide. Before adopting his second daughter, the father-of-two opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about his sweet girl Naleigh, "the cutest girl in the world."

She is doing great. She's the cutest girl in the world. She loves to sing and loves when dada reads her books."

Self-titled as "America's Personal Trainer," Tony Little is one of the most recognizable faces in the nation, averaging over 5,000 hours a year on TV. Tony encourages people to get into shape, but when it comes to his being a dad, he says, "Believe it or not, I?m absolutely not a hyper, pushy person to my children."

The father-of-four kids - Tara, 25, Trent, 24, and 2-year-old twins Cody and Chase - opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about being a "proud father."

Both of [my older kids - Trent and Tara] are about to finish college and they?re planning to pursue graduate degrees in medical school and psychology, respectively. Obviously I?m a very proud father! They?re both self-motivated people and I think that comes from me not being pushy with them when they were growing up. Believe it or not, I?m absolutely not a hyper, pushy person to my children. I?ve always tried to be a good role model to them, basically trying to live a life that says, 'I strongly believe there?s always a way in anything you face.' It?s the truth and I think it resonates with my kids."

Dr. Andrew Ordon is the co-host of the Emmy award-winning daytime talk show, The Doctors. The famed plastic surgeon opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about his grown children, who are following in dad's footsteps.

My kids (who are both in med school) are young and don't need any cosmetic surgery. However, they are big believers in the reconstructive surgeries they have seen me perform over the years. That?s been awe-inspiring for all of us...As a parent you have to guide them when you can. I?m behind them 100%. It?s really fun for me to see them go through a similar process. Each generation does it better."
